2020 Scholars Recognition Recipients
Jackson Flowers is a notable leader in our school, ranked first in his class, he was a member of the varsity cross country team, HS student council, Masterminds, National Honor Society, and a peer mentor. Throughout middle and high school he earned major roles in our drama club productions, and last year won our Shakespeare competition. Jackson is excelling in the New Visions Visual and Performing Arts program, with plans to attend SUNY New Paltz in the fall.
Ms. Eliashuck has been an extremely important influence for the past seven years. It was her enthusiasm that introduced and shaped my engagement in the performing arts.
Emily is recognized by her teachers as a student with a kind heart and a passion for helping others. Her drive and work ethic is above and beyond many students of her age.
Ms. Cummings provided an education unparalleled to other teacher’s. Her kindness, helpfulness, and passion for education influenced the way I perceive myself, and my future.
Juneau Wang is truly one of a kind, a student that has stood out well beyond all of his peers. If you’re looking for the students with the “it” factor, it’s Juneau. Published author, distinguished scholar, top of his graduating class, he is refreshingly positive, humble, yet confident, and so genuine and sincere is every single thing he does.
Mrs. Babic puts her heart into everything she does. She showed me that we are not defined by our adversities, but by how we overcome.
Marcus Johnson is ranked within the top of his class. He is a three sport athlete, an avid bike rider, an active member of different clubs and activities. He has received numerous awards for his sport achievements; he holds two school records in Track and has competed in State’s multiple times; Marcus was nominated for Boys State.
Mrs. Countryman has a teaching style that is flexible and motivating. She encourages her students to do their best by her ability to make even the toughest subjects, learning-friendly.
Jovanni ranks first in Corinth’s Class of 2020, with an overall average of 98.51. His extracurricular pursuits are many, he is a member of several student organizations and honor societies. These include: the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, the World Language Club, Band, Chorus, Jazz Band, All County Band and Chorus, NYSSMA Music Festival, NEIMF Music Festival, Castleton College Honor Band and Chorus, Drama Club, Prom Committee and Varsity Track & Field.
Mrs. Aldridge brings joy to her students' lives through music. Even after retiring, she checks on us to ensure that we are in good hands.
Isabel has shined in all that she does. She is a curious and diligent student who has pursued her academic passions beyond the classroom, to an internship at the Wadsworth Center. Isabel demonstrates a true commitment to the interfaith values of Doane Stuart, educating others about her Jewish faith with poise and engaging articulacy. She is a source of light to the school community, inspiring others with her respect for knowledge and positive energy.
Mr. Pickett’s dedication to science and teaching is contagious. Every day, he challenges me and inspires me to grow and pursue my passion for science.
Paul Munson is one that stands out among the crowd. He is hardworking, genuine, dependable, and an overall wonderful person to be around. Throughout high school Paul has taken challenging coursework and has done so with much success. His commitment level is admirable as he is involved in numerous extracurricular activities both in and out of school. He has a strong bright future ahead of him!
David Schalekamp is a teacher who is truly enthusiastic about his craft. It has been a privilege learning from him and I am very grateful.
Fort Edward CSD
Morgan is the valedictorian of the Fort Edward Class of 2020 with grade point average of 98.43. She has received the 2020 Capital District Sports Women of the Year - 1 of 10 total, The Post-Star Teen Excellence Award Recipient, 2019-20 Section 2 Girls Basketball Scholar Athlete - ADK League Top Scholar, NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete - Fall & Winter (Volleyball & Basketball). Morgan plans on pursuing her education in biology and is giving serious consideration to UVM and Stony Brook.
Mr. Finn undeniably instilled my passion for science. When I am frustrated and doubting myself, he always encourages me. He's one of my biggest supporters.
Rachel displays a great deal of dedication to both her academic and extracurricular activities. She participates in Girl Scouts of America, Eagles Media Center, National Honor Society, and started the Galway chapter of the DoSomething Club. Rachel volunteers a great deal of her time. She volunteers at the Joseph Henry Elementary School, a Vacation Bible School, tutors younger students and has implemented her own after-school program at our district and also a neighboring district.
Mrs. Hutchinson has truly influenced my education. She has inspired me to want to become a teacher and was my Girl Scout Gold Award mentor.
Mallory Dence from Johnstown, attends HFM Career and Technical Center’s New Visions Health Careers program. She maintains a 99% GPA in the program and anticipates attending Siena College's Nursing program. Mallory is a talented and competitive dancer, who participates in various school clubs. She is a member of National Honor Society, recipient of the International Club Award and the Excellence in Sociology Award. Mallory is an avid volunteer at school and within her community.
Ms. Bucenec is an exceptional teacher and role model like no other. Her infectious personality allows students to feel welcomed and have much needed support.
Hoosick Falls CSD
Mageean Brown is a high-flying student by any metric. When she is not soaring the skies in pursuit of her pilot's license, her feet are planted firmly on the ground as Captain of many Hoosick Falls sports teams. Mageean has pursued Advanced Placement coursework in numerous subjects and has taken college courses. In addition to being a decorated student-athlete, Mageean is class secretary and vice-president of the Student Council.
Every day, I look forward to Mr. Ossont’s class which is always filled with his humor, thoughtfulness, and his extraordinary patience that makes Mr. Ossont such an amazing teacher.
With depth and intensity, her art comes to life. She constructs fully developed worlds in her stories, and creates heart wrenching poetry that forces the reader to examine the human condition. But most importantly, Hailey Rolon is an incredible person with a wise soul, witty sense of humor, and empathy. Being in her presence is a privilege and a joy, and teaching her has been one of my greatest honors.
Mrs. Near is one the most fantastic teachers I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. From her humor to her phenomenal lessons, she’s easily one of the most engaging and inspiring teachers to grace Hudson High. No other faculty member has impacted me in a way that she has, and I’ve only just become her student during my senior year. She’s the main reason this year has been so amazing.
La Salle Institute
Aidan Ciancio attends La Salle Institute in Troy, and lives in Delmar. He is a member of the Cross Country and Track teams, and serves as President of the National Honor Society. He is an officer in the military program and is proud of leading and coordinating a Service Visit to the Albany Veterans Association Hospital. During the summer, Aidan works as a Camp Counselor at his local YMCA.
My English teacher, Ms. Corlew has opened my eyes to new avenues of reading, writing, and thinking. She has broadened my skills tremendously and I am grateful for the impact her teaching has had.
Loudonville Christian School
John Roosenberg is an accomplished scholar, demonstrated by membership in NHS, and an excellent SAT score. He displays excellence in leadership, as our Academic Prefect, in his creation and oversight of our peer tutoring model, and has significantly impacted our student culture to help students value their education. John also played four years as a Varsity Soccer Player, serving as team captain Junior and Senior year, and earned First Team All Star all four years.
Mr. Philippi has not only guided me academically, he has intentionally helped me navigate life, and go farther than I ever could alone.
Julianna Huba’s Mohonasen activities include Peers for Peace, Olympics of the Visual Arts, Select Orchestra, to name a few. She was also selected for membership in multiple honor societies including National, Math, Science, French and Tri-M. Within the community, Julianna is a Teen Ambassador and fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House and was selected for Pillars of Excellence for outstanding service, scholarship and leadership. In addition, she interned for the Albany County Legislature last summer.
Ms. Shea completely changed my view of science. Physics was engaging and collaborative, leading to my love of the topic and my decision to major in environmental science.
Mary Kathryn Conway
Mary Kathryn Conway is a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, French Honor Society, Science Honor Society and Math Honor Society. As an athlete, she was senior captain of the Mohonasen Swimming and Diving team, where she competed in four events at the state level. She finds time to volunteer as a member of St. Madeleine Sophie/St. Gabriel’s Parish Council and as a volunteer at the annual Ellis Cardiac Classic road race.
Mrs. Kondenar is easy to laugh with and her accepting presence inspires me to have confidence in myself. She also gives me a safe-haven to unwind.
Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons
Connor is an extremely hardworking student both in and out of the classroom. In addition to earning the title of Valedvictorian, Connor is a three sport athlete (soccer, football, and baseball) and a member of the National Honor Society. His humble spirit, kindness, and sense of humor are attributes that have made him a role model to our student body. In the fall he plans to attend Providence College.
Mr. Biggs is a dedicated leader in our community at ND-BG. He is constantly looking for ways to help his students whether it’s preparing for a test or helping them with lines in a musical. Mr. Biggs is extremely involved, fun, outgoing, and determined to see his students succeed.
Saratoga Central Catholic School
Isabella attends school at Saratoga Central Catholic. She is grateful for the Catholic education and the values she received. At Saratoga Central Catholic they focus on service to their community. She has worked in a local victory garden, served in a soup kitchen, helped with a special education prom night, and helped raise money for many charity organizations. She now looks to continue her education with a focus on biology and pre-med.
Mrs. Crowther has been Isabella’s English teacher for two years. She is engaging, passionate for teaching, and inspires her students to have enthusiasm about learning.
Tari Civerolo is an exceptional, talented student and citizen. Ranked number one, she has received numerous recognitions and scholarships for her academics and service. She is a 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student and member of National Honor Society. Tari studies in the rigorous New Visions program. A dedicated volunteer and humble leader of her peers, Tari displays a solid character and a strong sense of herself in relation to the world around her.
Mrs. Kelliher has been a positive influence as my teacher and mentor, helping me with community service, and is one of the most selfless people I know.
Shaker High School
Virag Korniss is an intelligent, resourceful and highly motivated individual who has achieved significant success in many domains throughout her high school career. She is one of the most outstanding students at Shaker High School in the areas of academics, leadership, athletics and character. Virag’s natural ability and talent is balanced by exceptional humility, integrity, empathy and generosity. She will unquestionably be a dynamic leader in college and the professional world.
Miss Malara is a passionate and insightful teacher who has inspired my love for Latin while creating a class that truly feels like a family.
Shaker High School
Hardworking, driven, and compassionate are the first words many would use to describe Marie. She has emerged from her comfort zone with an intense intellectual curiosity towards every facet of the world around her. She has developed the skills to meet the challenges and opportunities that awaits her beyond the walls of Shaker High School. Marie plans to attend a four-year institution with an interest in International Relations\Studies as a potential major.
I can think of no teacher more supportive, more eloquent, more thoughtful than Mrs. Wade. Walking into her classroom evokes the feeling of coming home.

Motivated, driven, and compassionate are words many of teachers and administrators would use to describe Tanya. She is a well-rounded individual that has been able to balance her rigorous academic studies and a Student Athlete as a member of our Girls Gymnastics team. On track to graduate in the top 10% of her class, with plans to attend a four-year institution and major in the Sciences. She aspires to attend medical school in the future.

Alivia is first in her class with a 97 GPA, having taken the most challenging courses and achieving an advanced regents diploma with honors. Alivia is a strong, passionate and driven young woman. She excels at anything she puts her mind to! Alivia balances sports, clubs, her academics and two jobs effortlessly. She also is an active member of the Army National Guard. Alivia is a strong representation of a CASDA leader and will impress us all in her future endeavors.
Mrs. Field is a dually certified English teacher of 27 years! She has been the most supportive and caring teacher throughout my time at Sharon Springs. She has done more for me than anyone ever has and deserves this recognition!
Ana is a gifted student with a strong work ethic. From volunteering in youth ministry to playing soccer, she is involved in academic, civic, and athletic pursuits. Ana also participated in the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute, developing a passion for politics and public policy. What is most important about Ana, however, is her warm smile and kind heart. She is a young woman who will change the world in important ways.
Mrs. Horton fostered curiosity toward social issues, politics, and advocacy. She challenged me as a student and encouraged us to believe we could change the world.
Kyleigh is Valedictorian of the Class of 2020. She is an excellent student and her academic strengths are complemented by her determination, hard work and leadership skills. Kyleigh is a member of National Honor Society, Cross Country and Volleyball. She is a team player and a positive force in every aspect of community life.

Mackenzie Squair is co-president of the student body, producer of the school play and school ambassador. Mackenzie was recipient of the University of Rochester Frederick Douglass & Susan B. Anthony Award, and The Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation & Creativity Award. Mackenzie plays violin and enjoys ice skating. Mackenzie plans to major in political science.
Mrs. Ezzo has pushed me to improve both academically and personally. I am so glad I was able to learn from such an engaging teacher.
Kemal earned 34 college credits through Hudson Valley Community College, the University at Albany and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As a senior he was accepted into the prestigious New Visions Science , Technology, Engineering & Math program. A member of National Honor Society, Math Honor Society. Masterminds, FIRST Robotics, Astronomy Club (Founder and President), Odyssey of the Mind, Kemal was accepted into the esteemed MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Beaver Works Summer Institute as a junior.
Ms. Szakmary has been my guiding light since I first met her in 10th grade. She has helped me to make the most of opportunities at and beyond the school.
Madison earned 37 college credits through Hudson Valley Community College, and the University at Albany. As a senior she was accepted into the New Visions Scientific Research & World Health program. A member of Student Council (Tressuer), National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Junior/Senior Board, Key Club and Italian Club, Madison was the runner-up for the H.O.B.Y Leadership Award as a sophomore and received the Lela B. Capron Scholarship as a junior.
Ms. Valenti has been one of the most influential figures in my life and has always guided me on the path to success.
Renee Bogdany is an outstanding student at Clayton A. Bouton High School, who has excelled academically. She is involved in many clubs and organizations, including S.A.D.D., National Honor Society, Junior Ladies of Charity, and Science Olympiad. She is a talented athlete and she was a starter on the varsity soccer team and a captain on the varsity basketball team.
Mr. Simons is a passionate, dedicated physics teacher who always supported me and always challenged me to go above and beyond what was expected.
It has always been my dream to attend an ivy league school. Last fall, I chose Cornell University and applied in a binding early decision.This December, I heard back that I had been accepted to the college of engineering. Next year, I plan on majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in biomedical engineering. With so many directions in this field, I plan on exploring everything until I find what I am truly passionate about.
I have been a school counselor for the Warrensburg Central School District for the past ten years and have enjoyed working with both students and families in the community. I particularly enjoy working with students on their college process. I feel extremely fortunate to work with such amazing students and staff at Warrensburg.
Victoria Shuster excels anything she puts her mind to. A diverse background of experiences and achievements has prepared her to lead a life of unique vision, enthusiasm, and fulfillment.Victoria is an astute observer, and sometimes critic, of the human condition. Mr. McQueen has been a wonderful teacher, adviser, coach and a helping hand throughout my high school career.
Nathaniel Brooks is a hard working intelligent student who has shown positive results in several areas of his life. He is a member of the Spanish Honor Society; NYSSMA All State Choir; National Honor Society; and National Technical Honor Society. He earned the Sportsmanship Award in Varsity Soccer. He competed in Skills USA for Culinary Arts at the National Level and was elected the National Treasurer. He volunteers at a local soup kitchen.
Mr. Zwart’s guidance lead me to compete at the National level of SkillsUSA and to be elected as National Treasurer of the organization.
Saratoga Springs High School
Danielle has worked hard to earn straight A’s throughout High School and be a consistent member of her school’s High Honor Roll. She has received multiple academic awards, including both class awards and University of Rochester’s Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award. She has also acted as the High School’s Math Club President, National Honor Society Officer at Large, and as her school’s Varsity Field Hockey Team’s Captain.
Mr. Shanks has taught me to take advantage of every learning opportunity possible and to understand the importance of hard work and dedication in school.

Renee Maslak is a hard-working, determined intellectual who coordinated the National Honor Society Blood Drives, as well as a Honduran medical mission supply drive. In addition to her impressive academic accomplishments, she’s a member of the Varsity Track and Diving Teams and was named the 2019 Swimming and Diving NYS Section 2 Scholar-Athlete. Her genuine character and strength in the face of adversity will benefit her as she pursues a profession in surgery.
Mr. Warner’s extensive knowledge of physics and devotion to his student’s academic and personal growth has inspired me to have passion in everything I do.

Nicholas Dahlen is a very motivated person who is driven to succeed. He demonstrates his work ethic and love for learning in all that he does. Nicholas is the president of National Honor Society, and he is an active volunteer in both his school and the local community. He has been a rower for six years and is a two-time New York State champion and national finalist. Nicholas plans to study chemistry and mathematics.
Magistra Sadlon has a passion for teaching that lights up my day. Her dedication has inspired me to always work as hard as I can.
South Glens Falls CSD
Lanning is a four year Varsity Soccer starter and two time captain and a two year Varsity Tennis player at South High. He is a member of the National Honors Society (NHS), Varsity Sports Club, Varsity Reading Program, and National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). He is the valedictorian of his senior class and is a National Merit Scholar, recipient of the President’s Award, and received the 2019 Clarkson College Leadership Award.
Mr. Birkholz coached and mentored me on the soccer team, was my teacher sophomore year, and brought my teammates and I to Italy/ Germany last summer.
South Glens Falls CSD
Rachel Seaman is a motivated student who excels in academics while being active in her school and community. She has achieved high honor roll, become an AP Scholar with Honor, and will graduate with an Advanced Designation Regents Diploma. Rachel has also received the Presidential Excellence Award and Harvard Prize Book. She participates in NHS, Key Club, Track, and was twice the captain of her Cross Country team. She plans to study Biology in college.
Mrs. Gutheil uses the material taught in her history class to teach valuable lessons on character. She helped me become a better student and person.
Lily is an exceptional senior at Salem Central School. She is a member of The National Honor Society, recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, and a member of NYSSMA, All-County Chorus, Band, and Jazz Band. Lily is also a leader in soccer and track. She contributes to the community through work with younger students, her church, and various other local organizations.
Mrs. Perkins is a social studies teacher. She graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1991 with a BS in Economics and graduated from The College of St. Joseph’s with an MS in Secondary Social Studies Education in 2004. Mrs Perkins has taught at Salem Central School since 2003. She currently teaches AP Modern World History, AP U.S. History. U.S. History and Government and Global II. Mrs. Perkins is the Mock Trial Advisor, 10th-grade advisor, and NHS co-advisor.
Fort Ann CSD
Tanner Lunt is a well-respected young man who is an active member of our school and community, participating in many activities, including athletics, National Honor Society and Key Club. This year he is participating in the New Visions Engineering program, an academically rigorous program for area high school seniors. Tanner is one of the top students in his class and plans to attend college this fall.
Mrs. Wilson-Monroe is an exemplary teacher who not only ignited my passion for mathematics but also immensely contributed to my personal growth as well.
Savannah Vavrina is a senior in high school at Germantown High school In Germantown, NY. She is the treasurer for the schools National Honor Society, the class of 2020's Vice President, and is the class of 2020's Valedictorian. Savannah will continue her educational career at The University of Valley Forge in Phoenixville, PA.
Joshua Fitzgibbons is a third year Social Studies teacher at Germantown High School. He teaches U.S. History, Government, Economics, and Personal Finance. He attended SUNY Oneonta, where he earned a Bachelor's in History, and The College of Saint Rose where he earned a Master's in Adolescent Education. His interests include the American Revolution, the New York Yankees, and motorcycles..
Kate Dushane is a leader among her peers, she is brilliant, ambitious and humble. She is currently our Valedictorian and is maintaining a 101 cumulative grade point average in our most rigorous courses. She is President of National Honor Society, Treasurer of SADD and the Class of 2020, and a member of the Interact Club. She is also a talented musician and captain of the Varsity Soccer team.
Mr. Evans taught me for 4 out of my 5 years of high school math. Through these years, Mr. Evans sparked a love for mathematics.
Academy of the Holy Names
Delaney Cummins is an interesting, intelligent, motivated, disciplined and mature young woman. While taking the most rigorous academic program that we offer, where she has received countless awards honoring her achievements, Delaney also shared her talents with the school as an accomplished actress, musician and singer. She is an excellent communicator, superb critical thinker and true problem solver. Her pursuit of excellence is evident in all that she does. She plans to study Physics next year.
Mrs. Baxter has truly fostered my passion for science. She has always encouraged me to push myself and to excel in her class and beyond.
Averill Park CSD
Triston Lincoln is a senior at Averill Park High School. Triston hopes to pursue a degree in computer software engineering. Triston is an active student, involved in a number of school sports, and clubs as well as volunteer activities. Three of his favorites are golf, robotics and volunteering at his church. Triston suffers with Crohn's. Despite his illness, he is one of the most positive and resilient young men, I've known.
Mrs. Reinisch has been an instrumental influence to me beginning at a young age both in and outside of the classroom.
Averill Park CSD
Lydia Ware has earned a 99.10 GPA while attending Averill Park High school which has allowed her to be ranked number 1 in her class. Lydia has also has played Varsity soccer and participated in Varsity indoor and outdoor track and field, where she has earned many honors. Lydia has been a member of the APHS science club, journalism club and student athlete advisory council in addition to being an active member and volunteer at her church.
I admire Mrs. Stephenson’s extraordinary optimism and joy. She genuinely cares about every one of her students and exudes passion for learning and growth
Jordan is an exceptional student ranked at the top of her class. Jordan has excelled in all of her subjects, especially in math and science. This year she is a New Visions Health Careers student and is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. In addition to being an honors student, Jordan has been actively involved in Key Club, Club and Varsity Volleyball, Student Council, and is a volunteer at the Paul Nigra Center in Gloversville, NY.
Mrs. Bucenec has had a significant impact on my education due to her ability to instill this passion within each of us to learn about something we are truly interested in.
Sara Bramlage exemplifies the true meaning of embracing her involvement with the utmost character. She is an active member of our district - engagining, participating, and leading by example. Sara demonstrates a work ethic and kindness towards others that is truly admirable. Her forward thinking and ability to take an idea and run with it has led her to take part in Queensbury’s Legacy 2020 Project - her artwork can be seen around the newly renovated building.
Mrs. Bengle has pushed me to be the best student and photographer I can be, and has helped me grow tremendously during our time together.
As a quite visible, contributing and respected member of the senior class, Meghan will leave her legacy in the areas of academics, co-curricular participation, community service, and athletics here at Queensbury High School. With an infectious smile, a bubbling personality, an interactive sense of humor, and a dedicated approach applied to all endeavors, Meghan has grown to be a leader and trusted ally among her peers and in the eyes of the faculty.
Miss. Metzger has had a significant impact on my education and life. She is inspiring to her students and influences us to be lifelong learners.
Hailey Mitchell is the RCS class of 2020 Valedictorian. She is co-president of National Honor Society and a passionate member of Chorus, participating in Melodies of Christmas, Music Honor Society and Select Chorus. Co-captain of varsity soccer three out of four years, she also played on a travel soccer club that advanced to the semi-finals at a national tournament. Hailey will attend SUNY Brockport where she'll major in biology and continue to play soccer.
Ms. Foley has helped me grow as a person. Her support helped me become more confident when public speaking or just speaking my mind.
Anjalee is a social activist who exhibits her altruistic attitude through several school and community organizations. She volunteers with children, encouraging them to grow through sports and impart on them her love of languages. She is a student member of the Niskayuna Board of Education, and volunteers her time in other district organizations. She wants to give voice to all, regardless of socioeconomic status, intellectual ability, or ethnicity and she does so always with humility.
As my Student Congress Advisor, Mr. Mattice has aided the growth of my voice and has taught me about the importance of strong leadership.
Gabriel John Silverstein
Always having a love for science, Gabe has chosen to attend the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to study Public Health.
He was fortunate to be given the opportunity to spend a good portion of his senior year working in the Collaboratory, a public health extension program run by the college in the South End of Albany.
Gabe took full advantage of his time at Bishop Maginn High School and will graduate with over 30 credits from the Maria College in the high school program. He was also a member of theMasterMinds, Varsity Baseball and Varsity Basketball teams.
Dr. John Harden
Dr. Harden is a teacher and the director of technology at Bishop Maginn but is a mentor to many. Dr. Harden has always been available to work with students, to challenge students to do their best, and to show students just how much they are capable of! Dr Harden has been a guiding force throughout my high school career.

Josh Defayette is an exemplary citizen and scholar. At the top of his class academically, he has received recognition for his accomplishments in English, History, and Math. A versatile athlete, Josh competes in cross country, Nordic skiing, and track and field and has also competed on his school’s soccer and bowling teams. He has long served as an altar server at his church and is an active member of both National and French Honor Society.
Mr. Smith has been a very significant influence to my high school career by constantly offering me kind, sage advice when I needed it most.
Gillian Roeder has gone to Bethlehem for the entirety of her academic career. She was on the varsity cross country and track and field teams since her sophomore year and spent her remaining time out of the classroom participating in Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, student council, and Peer Helpers. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, biking, and playing piano. Gillian will continue her passion for learning and running in the coming years by seeking a degree in mechanical engineering and running DIII track and cross country in college.
Evelyn Ledezma has been teaching Spanish for many years at Bethlehem, and her passion for her job is evident to all of her students. She plans a variety of engaging activities that allow her students to both absorb a large breadth of material whilst having fun, and no day of class is alike. Sra. Ledezma’s energy is contagious and motivates her students to do well, as all can see that she truly cares about them. Her organization shows itself in the success of Bethlehem’s chapter of Spanish Honor Society, which she leads. Overall, Sra. Ledezma has been like a mother figure for me, and I am extremely happy I was able to have her as a teacher for two years.

Edith Koo is an extraordinary young woman in many respects. She has been a positive role model since she entered high school. Her work ethic has gone above and beyond our requirements with her transcript showing that she is taking the most challenging college preparatory program of study. Whether in the classroom or through her leadership in extracurricular programs, Edith approaches everything with determination and tireless energy. She is a multi-talented young woman, a model student, and a leader. Edith takes on the responsibility of being the Class Treasurer for the Executive Club as well as involving herself in many other facets of school. She is always willing to help out others in need. This is why I feel that Edith has chosen the perfect field of Biology/Pre-Med to pursue. Edith hopes in the future to become a physician with the goal of helping others. Her character, hard work ethic, and integrity will surely help her to enable this to become a reality..
Given the challenging course she teaches, she motivates us to work harder. However, she also never forgets to maintain balance between discussion and learning.

Julia is an engaging young woman who is highly motivated. She is a leader in the classroom and throughout our school. Her leadership extends outside the school day as a captain on our cross country team, highly competitive indoor track team, and girls' lacrosse team. Julia's strong organizational and communication skills will serve her well in the future in anything she pursues.
Mr. Goldberg's dedication to his students and the course subject created the perfect learning environment in a very difficult class. His passion for learning and ability to motivate students has profoundly influenced my academic mindset and drive to learn.

Isabella is a responsible, organized and diligent student who has consistently challenged herself throughout high school. She is a young woman who is respected by her peers and is looked upon as a leader by the faculty and staff. Isabella is impressively well rounded. Her academics balanced with her lacrosse, Student Senate, and her part-time job, demonstrates time management and an open mind for experiences and responsibilities. Isabella looks forward to pursuing her degree in Chemistry in the fall.

Daniel grew up on his family’s farm, and developed a work ethic that transfers to academics and community involvement. He has been a leader in FFA, participating in state level competitions and serving in various leadership positions. He has been the Chapter President of the FFA since 9th grade. He is a member of the National Honor Society and New York State Science Honor Society, Big Brothers/Big Sister and Student Council.

Reem Djebli is interested in studying international law with a specific interest in human rights advocacy. She is a polygot who will continue to refine her skills within language in order to better be able to help different populations. Reem is a genuine and natural leader who is compassionate and easily approachable. She serves as a student representative to the Niskayuna Board of Education, where she assists in collaborative decision making with the greater community.

Hannah has a 98 average and a 1280 composite score on the SAT. She is the class valedictorian and will be graduating with her Advanced Regents Diploma, with a distinction of Mastery in Science. She has been on the high honor roll every quarter since 6th grade. She has been a member of the Student Council, Character Education Club, Community Service Club all four years and was awarded the Rotary Youth Leadership Award last year.
