Governor Cuomo's State of the State Address touched upon several issues that have profound consequences for K-12 education in New York. While his speech claimed a profound commitment to education, it was light on policy detail. The District Superintendents Panel will make examine questions of policy cited by the Governor and issues on which he has remained silent. Other topics that may be discussed include the state's ESSA Compliance Plan and the policy positions pertaining to  Title IX and Title VII enforcement that have been adopted by the Federal Justice and Education Departments.

Panelists Gladys Cruz of Questar III BOCES, Anita Murphy of Capital Region BOCES and Jim Dexter of WSWHE BOCES will provide their analysis of how the legislative debate in Albany will impact educators and their students in districts throughout the state. Attendees will have the opportunity to pose their own questions to the BOCES Superintendents pertaining to all areas of education policy and practice.

The panel will feature:

Gladys Cruz, Questar III BOCES

James Dexter, Washington Saratoga Warren Hamilton Essex BOCES

Anita Murphy, Capital Region BOCES
