FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS
There is no substitute for strong family engagement in a student’s education. Participation from parents, siblings and other family members supports a child’s learning in a manner that defies measurement. It is imperative that school districts view fostering family engagement as a foundational component of nurturing student development.
CASDA’s Climate, Culture and Community faculty members possess years of experience assisting school districts in developing strong connections with families and communities. They have worked with districts in a variety of regional and socio-economic contexts and are fluent in the latest research-driven strategies for school and community development. This unique combination of knowledge and experience positions CASDA’s faculty members as a vital resource for schools looking to strengthen their Family Engagement programming. Faculty members will consult with district leadership, teachers, parents and students to establish goals. Input from all constituent groups is carefully considered and a strategic plan to improve family engagement is presented. Presentations often involve SMART Goals as well as necessary steps to ensure their success. Example programs include:
Events aimed to promote community building while highlighting a specific area of curriculum such as a STEM ice cream social.
Creation of Parent Centers as a meeting place and information portal to connect parents to school, community and public health resources.
Homework strategies that encourage parents to participate or sign-off on their child’s work.
After school programming and events offering parents a forum to interact with teachers in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Strong family engagement supports a child’s education in a singular, irreplaceable fashion. CASDA’s expert faculty helps school districts develop effective family engagement strategies as a cornerstone of their student support programming.
