Administrators, teachers, nurses and staff must be capable of addressing mental health challenges to create an environment that supports learning and development. For many years, these issues did not receive adequate attention due to their sensitive and complex nature. This approach is no longer satisfactory. CASDA faculty members possess comprehensive knowledge of both legal responsibilities and best practices for engaging mental health challenges. Their knowledge can assist districts striving to create an empathic and supportive environment for all members of the school community.

CASDA offers a variety of professional development opportunities that raise awareness of specific challenges, confront their underlying causes and offer strategies for support.  Both distance learning and in-house seminars are available. Trainings address issues such as:

  • Student poverty.

  • Addiction and recovery.

  • Social media and bullying.

  • Challenging behaviors.

  • Suicide Prevention.

School leaders must insist on developing an environment that is knowledgeable and sensitive in handling mental health challenges. CASDA faculty members will guide schools in the effort to cultivate a thoughtful, supportive community for students and educators alike.
