This conference will develop a leader’s capacity to leverage successful instructional change through effective professional learning structures and opportunities for faculty and staff. Participants will acquire skills, practices, strategies, and resources to develop their expertise to create cultures of continuous improvement and build collective responsibility for professional learning linked to their district goals and outcomes. New York State Professional Learning Standards, Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning and new CTLE requirements will be used as a framework for assessing the needs of faculty, implementing professional learning designs and evaluating learning initiatives that promote both student and educator learning.
All participants will receive a copy of Standards for Professional Learning, 3rd edition, published by Learning Forward.
Acquire skills, strategies and resources to create a culture of continuous improvement.
Develop practices to build collective responsibility for professional learning linked to their district goals and outcomes.
Understand the conditions necessary for effective professional learning.
Become familiar with the requirements detailed in the NYS ESSA Plan.
Learn to embed the new New York State Next Generation Standards in ELA, mathematics, social studies and science into a professional learning plan to ensure that educator practice contributes to successful student outcomes.
