Response to Intervention (RTI) is a rigorous approach to instruction that focuses on early identification of skill deficits and intensive responses aimed to prevent learning gaps from increasing while supporting student development in targeted areas. RTI has been successful in improving outcomes for all students.  RTI’s emphasis on highlighting specific problems and addressing them with research supported solutions makes this approach a uniquely powerful school improvement strategy.

CASDA’s Curriculum and Instruction experts possess comprehensive knowledge of RTI concepts and have successfully applied this approach in diverse classroom settings. Faculty members meet with district, building and instructional leadership to discuss current instructional practices, areas of concern and develop a strategic plan for RTI implementation. This process often includes:

  • Seminar presentations outlining RTI concepts and strategies.

  • Establishing district committee and formulation of SMART Goals to guide and evaluate RTI implementation.

  • Classroom observations.

  • Focused coaching for instructors who will utilize RTI.

  • Follow up training, support and guidance.

RTI is a powerful school improvement tool. Its conceptual clarity and intensive, research-driven approach have made it a cornerstone of instructional practice in districts throughout the country. CASDA’s faculty experts will help school districts utilize RTI to offer students greater support and enhanced learning opportunities.
