Creating Safe Schools for LGBTQ Students is a training for K-12 educators that aims to equip teachers, administrators and school staff with the knowledge and perspective to create a safe, inclusive environment for ALL students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

GLSEN Board Members Imran Abbasi, Principal of Schalmont High School, and Jordyn Bucci-Mooney, a student at Shaker High School, will share valuable perspectives that will empower educators to support LGBTQ students in their schools.  Participants will reflect on their perceptions of groups “other” than themselves and investigate how these impressions have evolved.  Data will be shared to present the most current information drawn from the GLSEN Climate Survey to shed light on the experiences of LGBTQ students in schools. This training and the Safe Space Kit will provide resources to help educators construct school climates in which ALL students feel safe, valued and empowered.
