School Psychologist Roundtable
An Area-Wide Professional Learning Community for School
Psychologists
The School Psychologist Roundtable will serve as a forum through which participants can gain valuable information and resources on topics relevant to the effective practice of school psychology. The roundtable will serve as an area-wide professional learning community that will assist school psychologists working to provide services and accommodations for students with diverse learning needs and skills. In each session, participants will be provided a brief presentation on a variety of topics relevant to the effective practice of school psychology, followed by discussion and sharing of ideas and strategies for improving psychological support services and academic interventions. Due to the unprecedented demands being placed upon educators during the pandemic, we will also offer helpful self-care strategies and allow time for reflection. A portion of time will be reserved for case consultation.
Topics will include:
-
Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Dyslexia.
-
Making legally defensible and educationally relevant recommendations.
-
Writing goals that lend themselves to progress monitoring and benchmarking.
-
Characteristics and habits of effective school psychologists.
-
Other pertinent issues the group may identify through the course of the year.
