Instructional Design Coaching Services

A fully customizable program that will help teachers focus their practice on engaging students in the learning process to maximize academic growth.

Why Rethink Instruction in the Midst of Change?

Rapidly shifting from classrooms to remote instruction has forced schools to fundamentally rethink all aspects of schooling. While this has caused uncertainty and discomfort, it also presents opportunities to develop instructional practices that engage and empower students while centering their interests, backgrounds and unique talents. Teachers have demonstrated that they are willing to go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students during this shift. An instructional program that empowers teachers to develop authentic relationships with students, support social-emotional wellbeing and emphasizes authentic, relevant learning tasks, assessments and evaluations will build capacity to support students and foster sustainable improvement in academic achievement.

What is Instructional Design Coaching?

CASDA’s Instructional Design Coaching service is a fully customizable program that will help teachers focus their practice on engaging students in the learning process to maximize academic growth. The work draws on a diverse body of research in student voice, engagement and empowerment, culturally responsive teaching, universal design for learning, authentic assessment and the integration of educational technology. We recognize that each district has unique needs and resources and will work with you to develop a plan that aligns with your goals and values.

How Does it Work?

The Instructional Design Coaching service begins with an initial consultation, and needs assessment which can be conducted virtually or in-person. This will establish priorities and develop a scope of work to guide the project. Once a plan is in place, CASDA’s instructional coaches can work with grade level units at the elementary level, teams of teachers at the middle school, and content area departments in high schools to identify areas of strength while incorporating new approaches to improve student engagement for academic growth. We also provide understanding, alignment and professional development regarding the Next Generation Standards. The work can be delivered through a hybrid model consisting of video conferencing and in person meetings in order to reduce costs to districts. Our goal is to work with you to improve engagement and learning while respecting the realities of tightening budgets.
