Academy of Holy NamesMorgan Brewer Morgan is a senior at Academy of the Holy Names, and an outstanding scholar, leader, athlete and friend. She is respected by her classmates, younger students, faculty and staff because she exemplifies humility, compassion, dedication and perseverance. As senior class president, Morgan leads by example; carrying out her duties with respect and integrity. She mentors younger students who look up to her while she cheers them on. As a three sport athlete, Morgan’s leadership and grit contributed significantly to the soccer, basketball and track team’s success. Her teammates respect her as an honorable role model. As an active member of Youth Ministry and Youth Service Leaders Morgan has shared her faith with our community. Morgan’s senior service project supported the Child Advocacy Center. In August she will attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where she plans to pursue engineering. ____________________________________________________________________________ Deborah Baxter I chose Mrs. Baxter as my biggest inspiration because when I first transferred to Holy Names, I was looking to be more academically challenged and Mrs. Baxter's Freshman Biology class did just that. She taught me early in high school the importance of good study habits, time management, and learning and understanding material rather than memorizing it. In 11th grade when I took her AP Biology class I was challenged more than ever before, but Mrs. Baxter encouraged me throughout the entire process. She believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself, pushing me to not only excel in her class but also excel on the AP exam at the end of the year. Mrs. Baxter did not just teach me biology, she taught me how to be a student and for that I am forever grateful.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo CSDPeyton Del Vecchio I have had the pleasure of teaching and knowing Peyton for the past six years as a middle school student and now a senior. As her English teacher for the past 3 years I have watched her grow as a student, a role model and a young lady into someone who will surely make a difference in the world. Character traits such as reliable, responsible and resilient come to mind when I think of Peyton. She is without a doubt a conscientious leader who is compassionate, enthusiastic, and an advocate for her school and community. Her high interest in helping and empathetic nature towards others is refreshing for someone her age. In my 27 years of education, I have never worked with such a bright light. I have no doubt that this young lady will move mountains and be a pioneer for whatever she pursues. BKW will miss her dearly. ____________________________________________________________________________ Katy Keyser Mrs. Keyser has been my English teacher for all 3 years I’ve been in high school and I am forever grateful for everything she has taught me. She’s pushed me to be more independent and confident since the first day of her class and I’ve grown a lot because of her. She’s always willing to listen, she’s very reliable, and she’s an amazing teacher. BKW should consider themselves extremely lucky to have a teacher like Mrs. Keyser.

She’s an amazing teacher and mentor. I’ve had Mrs. Humiston as my teacher for ninth grade English, AP Language, and Survey to American Literature and Culture. She always finds a way to engage the students and help them better understand the material we learn. In addition to all the classes that she teaches, she’s also the advisor for the National Honor Society. I’ve been a member of the NHS for two years now and I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be able to do it without her. She’s incredibly helpful and organized. When she’s not teaching or advising, she’s amazing at giving advice and is always willing to be her student’s emotional rock. Personally, when I have a rough day I enjoy going to her classroom and just talking. Mrs. Humiston deserves this acknowledgement and I’m very thankful for her and all she does.

More than her achievements, what truly sets Lauren apart is her generosity, she constantly shares her time and talents with others. Whether she's helping classmates understand a lab in AP Biology, organizing school events, or simply being there for someone in need, Lauren is always the first to offer a helping hand. She is kind, helpful, enthusiastic, and never complains, no matter how much she has on her plate. The list of her contributions goes on and on. Cohoes CSDLola Stebbins Lola Stebbins is an exceptional student who exhibits a strong dedication to her academics, embodies the qualities of a strong leader, and demonstrates an unwavering commitment to community service. Lola is a member of our Future Ready Pathways program, a selective program through which she earned 67 college credits and completed her senior level coursework at HVCC. Lola also participated in our science research program for the past three years where she researched "the Effectiveness of Bilateral Versus Multidirectional Eye Movements Used in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Multichannel Eye Movement Integration Related to Interpersonal Issues in School." She hopes the results of this research can provide insight into how eye movements can be used to reduce students' physical and emotional reactions to stressful situations. Outside of her academics, Lola is an active member of Student Council, community service club, our Elevating Student Voices group, and drama club. Lola's exceptional academic achievements, commitment to research, and unwavering dedication to her school and community clearly distinguish her as a well-rounded, driven, and compassionate individual. I have had Mr. Kloczko as a teacher for Earth Science my freshman year, and for Science Research ever since. I believe he has made a significant impact on my academics at Cohoes High School that I will carry with me through the rest of my school career. Especially in Science Research, he has always been there for me as his student helping me through the issues I faced with my project in his class. He is a teacher who is empathetic and is willing to help you when you are struggling, but also can be very honest about how he thinks you are doing in class and when you need to get back on track. If there was a definition for the perfect teacher, I believe it would be Mr. Kloczko.

Madelyn has a bright future ahead studying Pre-Med Health Sciences at Providence College with the goal of becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon. ____________________________________________________________________________ Sam Honaker I chose to recognize Mrs. Honaker as a teacher who has had a significant impact on my education for many reasons. Mrs. Honaker is one of those teachers that I will never forget. My parents always talk about certain teachers that made an impact in their lives, and Mrs. Honaker has become one of those people for me. Switching schools during the middle of my freshman year was difficult, and one of the first people I met was her. Her teaching style helped me to understand the material, and even when I didn't, she always helped me. She made me feel comfortable asking questions. She made Corinth feel like home. Having Mrs. Honaker as a teacher helped me grow in so many ways and I don't think I will be able to ever thank her enough. But I do want to say thank you for listening to me, helping me, laughing with me, and thank you for pushing me to be a better person, and a better student each and every day.

Mrs. Stewart immediately greeted me with a smile, a simple testament to who she represents as a person. Quickly she became the closest administrator in my circle. I thrived in her class and she saw potential in me to do great things. I was taken under her wing. Throughout my junior and senior year, she was not afraid to encourage me to get involved in efforts through her ‘No Place for Hate’ and ‘Social Justice’ clubs. With her help, I was able to grasp the things necessary for me to put myself in the best position for college. Her efforts in getting me to this point went as far as pushing me to pursue becoming NHS president, taking time to converse with me after school, recommending an SAT tutor, and even offering to pay for the tutor sessions. Ultimately, through her guidance, I decided that Cornell University would be the school I wanted to go to. She connected me with former students and even helped me with my essays. Her kindness and generosity allowed me to elevate myself as a student and as a person. This same beneficence extends far beyond just me. That experience helped me build strong relationships with students and staff and helped me grow close with all of the students . It also led to me being offered a Teacher Assistant job—all because Mr. Mains gave me that chance. No other teacher has ever believed in me or stood by me like he has. During her time at Hudson High School, Samiha has achieved so much, and has been an important part of the Hudson community. She has shown strength, perseverance and a drive to be successful, all while helping others around her to be successful as well. ____________________________________________________________________________ Michael Antonelli My chemistry instructor, Mr. Antonelli had the biggest impact on my college search, application, and enrolling process. In addition to teaching chemistry, Mr. Antonelli also instilled in his students perseverance, self-assurance, and how to face uncertainty with interest rather than dread. His influence was profoundly emotive and remarkably distinctive, and his support at this trying and uncertain time was unheard of. I wasn't his best student in chemistry; in fact, I had a lot of trouble at the beginning of my sophomore year. I frequently waited after class feeling bewildered and irritated, anticipating the type of assistance that arrived in the form of hurried explanations or sighs. However, Mr. Antonelli saw those situations as chances to build relationships, not only to teach me science but also to boost my self-esteem. After I utterly failed a quiz one day, he stated, "It's not about getting it perfect." It all comes down to having the courage to press on. Months later, when I gazed at a vacant college campus, the sentence would reverberate in my mind. Mr. Antonelli somehow saw when I needed help as the educational process accelerated without my having to express it. He would inquire about my articles, provide me with silent support, and remind me that progress is a result of strain. He informed me, "Colleges don't just want perfect students," when I voiced concerns about applying to some colleges since I wasn't "good enough." They are looking for those that persevere and develop. Similar to chemistry, the most significant outcomes are frequently produced by the processes that require the greatest amount of energy. His advice was remarkable because of his special fusion of intellectual understanding and emotional discernment. I presented him with the acceptance letter from my top-choice school after I was eventually accepted. He nodded to me, grinned, and added, "See? told you it was worth the backlash. Don't make a huge speech. It was only a silent moment, but it meant so much to me. Mr. Antonelli's impact was consistent, considerate, and meaningful; it wasn't ostentatious or noisy. I will always take his lessons with me, both inside and outside of the classroom, since he gave me confidence when I needed it most. I want to work as a successful cardiologist in the future, treating patients and fighting for improved access to healthcare in underprivileged areas. This ideal, in my opinion, is built on education, where I can get the information, abilities, and experience I need to advance both intellectually and personally. In order to get ready for medical school and beyond, I want to fully engage in demanding coursework, worthwhile research, and volunteer activities. I take the teachings of fortitude, faith, and self-belief with me into this next stage. I've discovered that your drive and diligence may forge forward even when others doubt you. For me, college is more than simply a stepping stone; it's a place where I will advance, take charge, and begin building the future I’ve always imagined.

When I entered his AP World History class sophomore year, I lacked confidence in my ability to absorb all the material for the exam. I also wasn’t sure how I learned best. Through Mr. Cukerstein’s open seminar-style lectures, I discovered that I thrive in discussion-based environments. His willingness to answer questions and to challenge us with his own made me genuinely excited about history and class discussions. By the end of the year, I had earned a 5 on the AP exam and found a new passion for history. Continuing with him in junior year, I again experienced the same engaging conversations and academic success. This is something I remain deeply grateful for. He gave me confidence in my public speaking, and a willingness to ask questions.

Though I am very excited to move on, I know that I will look back with so much gratitude on the difficult classes, various opportunities, and incredible people that have gotten me a million steps closer to the future I hope awaits me.” Ivy is the daughter of Amelia and Stephen Wray, and has four siblings: Alex, Claire, and Maren Wray, and Kathryn Wray-Walter. ____________________________________________________________________________ Carrie Styles I’ve known Mrs. Styles since I was three or four years old and she’s always been one of my biggest inspirations. In the classroom she encourages students to try their hardest, supportively helps them work through problems or confusion, motivates everyone to feel excited for her subject material, and goes out of her way to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable. Outside of the classroom she organizes several events for the students and school community, devoting countless hours to the preparation of those activities. She is also unfailingly kind, genuine and selfless. In my senior year alone she has helped me so much, dedicating time to working with me and others on music for school performances without compensation, writing me a wonderful letter of recommendation, checking in on me on my bad days, and supporting me through all my decisions as I prepare for the future. I am so proud to call her my teacher, and growing to one day become like her would be an immense and unparalleled honor.
