The CASDA MTSS Roundtable returns for 2026–27 with a new focus: moving from having MTSS structures in place to examining whether those structures are producing results for students.

This year's Roundtable will combine the collaborative problem solving and cross-district learning of previous years with a stronger research-to-practice focus. Each session will introduce a short, accessible research or professional reading and use it as a lens for examining participants' own MTSS systems, data, practices, and challenges.

Research Anchors

For elementary literacy, we will draw from Susan Hall's 10 Success Factors for Literacy Intervention: Getting Results with MTSS in Elementary Schools, examining the systems and practices that distinguish effective literacy intervention from simply having an intervention process.

​

For middle and secondary literacy, we will incorporate current evidence-based resources from the Institute of Education Sciences and What Works Clearinghouse, including Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Grades 4–9 and Improving Adolescent Literacy: Effective Classroom and Intervention Practices.

Additional research and resources throughout the year will allow us to explore MTSS beyond literacy while maintaining the same central question: How do we know our MTSS system is working?

Participants will:

• Engage with a short research excerpt or evidence-based resource.

• Examine one component of their own MTSS system through that lens.

• Bring data, tools, protocols, schedules, decision rules, or current problems of practice to the table.

• Collaborate with educators and leaders from other districts.

• Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities within current systems.

• Develop or revise something concrete to bring back to their own team.
