9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cost: $180 CASDA member districts/$230 non-member districts
UAlbany ETEC Building, Room 303, Albany
CTLE: 6 hours
Facilitator: Alyssa Sabbatino, NBCT

In an era of fragmented attention, strong Tier 1 instruction is our most powerful lever. This session explores how to design learning experiences that capture attention, reduce cognitive overload, and support long-term retention.

Grounded in cognitive science and classroom practice, participants will examine instructional moves that improve clarity, engagement, and memory. Throughout the day, we will also connect these practices to broader MTSS efforts—highlighting how strong Tier 1 design reduces the need for downstream intervention by addressing common barriers, disengagement, and misconceptions upfront.
